Chevrolet El Camino is a coupé utility/pickup vehicle that was produced by Chevrolet between 1959–60 and 1964-87. Introduced in the 1959 model year in response to the success of the Ford Ranchero pickup, its first run lasted only two years. Production resumed for the 1964–1977 model years based on the Chevelle platform, and continued for the 1978–1987 model years based on the GM G-body platform. Although based on corresponding Chevrolet car lines, the vehicle is classified and titled in North America as a truck. GMC's badge engineered El Camino variant, the Sprint, was introduced for the 1971 model year. Renamed Caballero in 1978, it was also produced through the 1987 model year.
The 396 V8 fires right up and is paired to a smooth shifting 4 speed manual transmission. Highlights include cowl induction hood, Firestone Blackhawk white letter tires mounted on factory SS mag wheels, center console with temp and oil gauge, hood pins, power steering, power brakes with front discs, spare tire. The body is straight and the body gaps line up as they should and the doors open and close with no sag. The Cranberry Red exterior shows very well and the tan leather interior is neat and tidy and well put together. This is an excellent investment opportunity and is sure to please.
